The Harrogate & District Netball League (HDNL) was established in 1975 and continues today with around twenty teams, competing in three divisions. The league membership is around 230 members including players, umpires and coaches. Members are affiliated to the netball national governing body, England Netball. HDNL play netball in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
Netball is played by teams throughout the year with a Winter and Summer league, supplemented by netball tournaments. The Winter League runs from September to March, with netball matches played on Sunday mornings on indoor courts in Harrogate. Netball games in the winter league are for one hour played in four quarters. The Summer league is played in June and July, playing one evening a week, on outdoor courts. A number of short games of around eight to ten minutes, each way, are played.
